My name is Shelby Boisvert and I have been a member of LSAA since 2007 when I began working in the Lowell Public Schools as a Behavior Specialist. I spent a couple of years within that role before becoming a Guidance Counselor at Lowell High School, where I have been since 2012. I am currently in the role of Guidance at the Freshman Academy and service Cluster 9 students as well as Latin Lyceum and the ELL population of students. I truly enjoy my work as a Guidance Counselor. I am also licensed as a School Principal and Assistant Principal, and I had completed my internship work here in the Lowell Public Schools for that Licensure as well. I have been a member of the Negotiating Committee for the past 3 LSAA Contracts as well as a member of the Joint Study Committee. I also spent a term on the executive board as the LSAA Secretary. I truly look forward to my term as President, and look forward to serving all members and getting to know you all better. If there’s anything we can do to make this union better, or any suggestions you have, we’re open to hearing from you, and look forward to working with you.
I’m Patty Clark-Nowoswiat and am retired. I have been an active member of the LSAA since I became an ETC in March 2005, serving on 8 Negotiating Committees and the Joint Study Committee. I previously worked as an ETC at a variety of schools and retired as the Coordinator of the Dr. Janice Adie Day School. I started my full time career in Lowell in September 1981 as a Bilingual Special Education Teacher at the Pawtuckeville Memorial School. I also worked at the old Varnum School and at the Wang Middle School prior to my becoming an ETC. Throughout my teaching career I was an active member of the UTL, serving on a negotiating team and representing the UTL on the Labor Council. I look forward to continuing to serve the members of the LSAA.
My name is Sandra Jaco and I am a Social Worker at the Daley Middle School. This is my 27th year with the Lowell Public Schools, all at the Daley. I have been on 4 Negotiating Teams, and am happy to be the LSAA Secretary. I look forward to meeting LSAA members at the different events. Feel free to email me at obfamily05@gmail.com.

I’m Colin Confoey and I’ve been the LSAA’s Legal Counsel since January of 2000 when I began practicing law after graduating law school from Northeastern University. My law office, Kaplan and Confoey, is centrally located in Boston, Massachusetts. We have represented the Lowell School Administrators Association (“the LSAA”) since its formation back in 1991. I am proud to serve as Legal Counsel to twenty-five (25) Labor Organizations in Eastern Massachusetts, most of which represent employees who work in the public sector and approximately half of which represent employees who work in Public Education in some capacity from Administrative Assistants, Teachers and School Administrators. I strongly believe that all employees, regardless of their chosen occupation, should be represented by a labor union in order to provide them with job security and a much needed voice concerning their terms and conditions of employment.
On a personal level, I grew up in the City of Fall River, Massachusetts where my mother worked as a public school Teacher and my father had a small home improvement and remodeling business. I learned at a very young age the value of commitment and possessing a strong work ethic and how quality employment serves as the support system of a strong family which is the primary reason that I chose to become a Union Side Labor Lawyer. I find the job extremely challenging yet rewarding knowing that I can make a real difference in the lives of the Union Members that I represent by improving their working conditions, employment benefits and helping them navigate through extremely complex situations. I have come to understand that aside from your health, your employment is usually a top priority, so I make it my utmost priority to achieve the best possible outcome for the Unions and Union Members that I represent in each and every case.
